Whew!! What a day! Lucy was just all over the place today... a whirling dervish if you will. She wanted up, she wanted down, she wiggled all around! She emptied buckets, and I do mean buckets, of Sharpies all over the office... I'd pick them up and she'd dump them right back out! She twisted and turned out of my arms countless times... Only to want to be picked right back up! She wanted to eat, but not anything I fed her! She absolutely wore me out! I was so exhausted that when it came time to fix dinner, all I could muster was Mac and Cheese... That's right, I fed my 8 month old Mac and Cheese (hold on, hold on! It was 100% whole grain! But still...) She loved it!
HAPPYBABY HAPPYMELTS are Lucy's favorite snack! She just loves them. Its so funny to watch her eat them, she's such a goof! She gets super excited to get them to her mouth and just beams with pride. She also sings while eating them, which is apparently what she does when something taste really good!! Haha!
HAPPYBABY products are all organic and are made with 100% natural ingredients. They make sure that none of their foods contain pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or genetic modification.
"HAPPYBABY is committed to making baby food as healthy and delicious as homemade with the essential nutrients needed for optimal growth and development."
HAPPYMELTS are super yummy freeze dried yogurt snacks. They come in Banana Mango, Mixed Berry and Strawberry. Lucy likes the Banana Mango the best! HAPPYMELTS are easy for your baby to pick up and put in his/her mouth. They're not messy and melt in your baby's mouth. You don't need to refrigerate them, so they are great for moms on the go. Of course they are 100% natural and organic!
I hope your baby likes HAPPYMELTS as much as Lucy! They are a great, healthy snack!!

Love you so much little monkey! You're such a big girl already!
So... We just got home from taking Lucy to the Pediatric Urgent Care. Poor baby has ear infections in BOTH ears! The past 4 days have been relatively miserable... She has been running a 102• temp and has just been poopy :-( Having a sick kiddo is the WORST!
We have been super fortunate and this is really the first time Lucy has ever been sick. AND this is her first round of antibiotics. She's such a healthy little girl... We're SO lucky. She's not much of a complainer, either. The past few days have been really hard on me because my baby has been sick, but she has been such a trooper. I'm so proud of her.
She hasn't had much of an appetite... Mostly just nibbling on a little bit of YoBaby yogurt and drinking Grape Pedialyte. She's also been enjoying some Pedialyte Freezer Pops, they make her smile!
What makes your babies feel better when they're sick?
So, now being 4 mo. pregnant with #2 I have been bombarded with the question: "Do you have any gut feeling? Boy or girl?" The answer is no. To be honest with you, I had a "gut feeling" Lucy was a boy... Oops! I honestly could not tell you, one way or another, what this one will be.
Like all expecting mothers, I'm sure, I tried the Chinese Gender Prediction Calender... 51% chance for a girl - 49% for a boy... I did it with Lucy too, and it said she was going to be a boy. How helpful! Hahaha!
With Lucy I had just about every pregnancy symptom known to man... This pregnancy has been so uneventful... I actually forget I'm pregnant sometimes! So maybe its a boy? Who knows!!
We'll find out soon enough. We go in for our next Ultrasound in September, so we'll find out then! Uck. I hate waiting!!
Don't forget to vote in my poll... and leave a comment about your guess. We'll see who's right!
So, I haven't had a ton of time to post the last few days but I can share a few quick photos!! Hopefully things will calm down soon (probably not, as Lucy is trying to WALK!) But I'll post more in the near future!!
Here's Lucy enjoying some YoBaby Vanilla this morning! She might be the cutest ever!
Moms, you've gotta try this... Your baby will thank you!
Lucy is obsessed with this new recipe. I tried to feed her avocados the other day and she was not having it! So, in an effort to not have to toss the fresh avocados, I grabbed some of the apple sauce that I had had the day before and mixed it in with the avocados. Voila! She LOVED it! she couldn't get enough! Here's the recipe - so yummy, so nutritious!
Avocado and Apple Puree
2 Fuji Apples
2 ripe Avocados
a pinch of salt
a 1/8 tsp. of cinnamon
Clean and peel your apples and cut them in to small chunks. Cut the avocados in half and take the pit out. Scoop out the inside, cut into chunks. Put to the side.
Put the apple chunks in you Beaba BabyCook steam basket and steam. When the apples are steamed and soft put into the BabyCook blender (keep the steam water) and add the cinnamon. Blend until smooth. Remove from the bender and set aside.
Clean the BabyCook and put the avocado chunks in the steam basket. Steam until soft. Put the steamed avocados in the blender (throw out the steamed water) add the salt and blend until smooth.
When the avocados are blended take out 1/2 and set aside (you have to blend 1/2 at a time otherwise it over flows!) Add 1/2 of the applesauce to the avocados and blend together. Add some of the steamed apple water to achieve the desired consistency. Repeat with the other half of the avocados and apples.
Hee hee hee! I turned my back for one second to put the milk away in the fridge, and my little monkey crawled into the dishwasher! I couldn't find my camera in time so I just snapped these with my phone... I can't stop laughing!!!
Lucy LOVES some YoBaby Organic Yogurt! We eat it every morning for breakfast. I think she would be happy if I let her eat it for lunch and dinner too! :-) He favorite flavor is peach, but she loves them all!!
YoBaby is specifically created for babies. It is made with organic whole milk and real fruits. It is "organic & 100% natural - Made without the use of antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, and toxic, persistent pesticides." Its super nutritious and helps develop and support a healthy brain, immune system and growth. Its super yummy too! I love the taste as much as Lucy does! You can get YoBaby at most grocery stores and at Whole Foods. We can't get enough!! Here's Lucy enjoying her peach yogurt (and watching Dora) yesterday:
Crystal had some more great questions on my last blog, again I thought I'd post my answer here for everyone to read and also get some of your opinions on the matter! You can read her questions here.
The Maxi Cosi Mico is $169.99 here in the states. I got mine at the local boutique, Ding Bats, but you can buy them online and other Maxi Cosi dealers.
My pediatrician is very practical. He understands the delicate balance between what's best for baby and what is truly practical in everyday life. I love this about him.
Yes, he did say that babies (especially the first 12 weeks) should not be left in their car seat for extended periods of time. But he was quick to point out that he means leaving them in there for hours on end, like sleeping over night in it. His main concern with leaving the baby in the car seat too long was the lack on human touch. Babies need to be held and cuddled! That is why I love my Hotsling so much. I can have Lucy close to me and still get things done.
He said that there have also been studies that newborns can have trouble getting enough oxygen to their limbs if they are left in their car seat too long. Just like adult, babies need to stretch and move after sitting awhile!
Dr. S never said anything about it damaging or being harmful to their little spines. We definitely used the car seat more than the bassinet option (Lucy did not like riding around in the bassinet) and she is perfect. She is a very strong baby! She rolled over, sat up, and crawled very early. So I don't think it had any effect on her strength or he spine. I think it has a lot to do with your lifestyle. That's just what worked for us.
Just as the bassinet is en vogue in Europe, the car seat is what everyone uses here. I do think it has the most to do with lifestyle. The American way of life vs. the European. Is one better than the other? I have no idea. I think you should do what works for you and your family.
We have taken several road trips down to Dallas with Lucy and she has done so well in her seat. Its about a 4.5 hour trip for us, so we usually stop half way and let her stretch out and move around. She is a great traveler and seems very comfortable in her Maxi Cosi.
I hope this answers your questions... Keep them coming! Also, let me know what you finally decide on buying for baby R!!! Good Luck!
